I was fresh off the Pacific Paddle Games 2015 event in Dana Point, California (doing primary research for my final grad project at Georgetown University) when I got the yearning desire to take a surf trip. I had surfed with my friends (lifelong surfers) in La Jolla but I was such a sloppy surfer and my fear of going out to the lineup prevented me from my full potential in this sport – it was clear that I needed some surf lessons if I wanted to enjoy surfing. Destination – St. John
I finally got around to framing my Christian Wheatley print that I purchased on a trip to the Caribbean a few years ago.
My friend Diane was celebrating a milestone birthday and planned an fun trip to St. John with some of her friends. As I mentioned in my post on Bali, she has a true gift for planning holidays. She took care of every detail for the trip, we just had to get our plane tickets.

This trip was just what I needed after I came back from Iraq and had a challenging winter.
While I was deployed to Iraq as a news broadcaster I had a book for Adobe Lightroom 2 that sat on my desk with a remarkable cover image. I used this book frequently for reference and often gazed at the cover image always thinking “I want to see this stunning place!”
This “place” was Cinque Terre, Italy, a seaside village with captivating, colorful buildings, with lots of scenic hiking trails – just what I needed!
The trip to Bali was a much needed holiday escape in 2010!
My good friend Diane – who has a true gift for planning adventures – arranged this getaway during Thanksgiving week. She planned the trip through Singapore Airlines Vacations at a price that was TOO good to pass up. Continue reading “Bali – A true ‘zen’ holiday experience!”
After several trips to Paris I felt comfortable to organize a personalized group trip for some friends – it was a beautiful vacation with lots of museum tours, sightseeing and good eats!
This is a placeholder post for the blog 🙂 will write more detail later.

In early 2003 I ventured over to Europe to experience the French Alps. I had been snowboarding for a few years in New England and wanted to experience the Alps, specifically, the French Alps. My buddy Dave, also had the travel bug and took the trip/adventure over there with me. Continue reading “Val d’Isere, France – The French Alps”
