Creative Projects

This is a combination of the graphic design and photography projects that I worked on in my 20-year career as a visual creative.

My life as a creative began when I was an inquisitive youngster, always reading the local newspaper to see if there was anything exciting going on with anyone I knew, HA, at a mere 11 years old! I convinced my parents to let me sub for a local newspaper delivery person and eventually got my own paper route. I often pitched stuff to the local newspaper as creative ideas and submitted photos that I took on my 110 camera, though I was never taken seriously 🙂

In high school I took media and art classes, studying the history of film and art history. I worked in the TV production dept. (made my first video to a Grateful Dead song “River in Still Water”). Painting and pottery classes were always so much fun and exciting to see people interpret things in different artistic ways.

When I joined the Air Force in 1995 they choose a “digital media communications” position for me when I came in enlisted general. Good for me, this was a Graphic Designer job where I first encountered the infamous military school for training creatives –DINFOS, in 1996.

I’ll keep this brief 🙂

I spent 20 years working as a graphic designer, holding several key positions and contributing to historical projects in several military units that I was assigned. I received my BS from the University of Mount Olive with a concentration on Visual Communications in 2000.

Since then I have studied and worked in journalism, news broadcasting, television production, and became an accomplished photographer. While I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to express my creativity through the lens and on paper, I am now focused on my career in public relations and corporate communications.

I am still a creative, I just use my unique gift to help companies improve communications with outside-the-box thinking – sorta like a creative think tank 🙂
